Murgh Malai Kabab (Creamy Chicken Kabab)

Murgh means chicken, malai means cream and I’m pretty sure every one knows what kabab is. As the name suggests, it melts in your mouth right away. It’s creamy and rich and so easy to make. You’ll definitely wonder why you haven’t tried this before.

It has a pretty mild flavor as compared to other sub-continental recipes because we love our spicy food. So, you can make it for kids and for people who aren’t much into spicy food. Trust me they will really love it.

Another great thing about this recipe is that you can make the kababs and freeze them. This is the reason I’m sharing this with you guys now because Ramadan is around the corner and many of us are filling up our freezers with frozen meals to make fasting easier. You can make it for kids’ lunch and for parties and gatherings. Just make it ahead of time and freeze it. All you have to do afterwards it to pull it out of the freezer and fry it. Voila! It’s that easy.

Murgh Malai Kabab

You Will Need:

  • Minced Chicken – 400gms
  • Green Chilies – 3-4
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tablespoon
  • Coriander Leaves – a handful
  • Mint Leaves – a handful
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper Powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Garam Masala Powder (All spice powder) – 1 teaspoon
  • Egg – 1
  • Fresh Cream – 1 tablespoon
  • Mozzarella Cheese – 3 tablespoons
  • Bread Crumb – 4-5 tablespoons
  • Oil – for frying


In a food processor, add the Coriander leaves, Mint leaves and green chilies and pulse it until it is finely chopped. You can totally do nit by hand but it’s quicker this way.

Add minced chicken to the chopped greens in the food processor along with the spices and blend it until it becomes fine like a paste. Make sure it is dry before adding.

Take it out in a bowl and add the egg, bread crumbs, ginger garlic paste, cream and cheese. Mix it up really well.

Now take a little bit of oil on your hands to keep the mixture from sticking to your hands and take a small amount of mixture and form it into an oblong shape.

Now make more and place it in a tray. At this point you can freeze it if you want.

Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Remember that you will shallow fry it so don’t add too much oil. Place it carefully and fry until golden brown.

Once ready, take it out on a paper towel before decorating it on a serving dish. Then place it on the serving dish.

Serve with naan, raita (yogurt dressing) and salad. Bon Appetit!
